HINDUISM

"I am proud to belong to a religion which has taught the world both tolerance and universal acceptance. We believe not only in universal tolerance, but we accept all religions as true. As different streams having different sources all mingle their waters in the sea, so different paths which men take through different tendencies, various though they appear, crooked or straight, all lead to god."

Swami Vivekananda

Hinduism is the true culture of Indians in India. Many call it "A way of life." It is not an organized religion like Christianity or Islam. It has no founder. It has no Pope. It has no hierarchy. In Hindu scriptures, you are actually studying about the history and culture of India.

No on knows when it exactly began. If you go by Hindu mythological stories, Hinduism is trillions of years old. If you go by Max Muller, the German philosopher, it is at least 8000 to 9000 years old. Since the recent archaeological discovery of the submerged coastal city at Poombuhar in Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu, which is said to be older than the ancient Sumerians of Mesopotamia, and geological discovery of the (mythological) Saraswati river (which discredits the theory of the “Aryan invasion”), the Hindu culture seems to be that of the first modern human civilization.
